The Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC), Mr Kamar Bakrin, has explained why the Council’s land development plan is focused on increasing yield per hectare with minimum inputs. The NSDC boss told officials from Netafim who visited him in the office that such strategy will be put in place to achieve maximum output. “This is due to the challenges posed by opening of new land for sugar projects,” he said. The Netafim officials used the opportunity of the visit to introduce their services which include land development for sugar projects, field and agronomy, bulk water supply and installation of infield sub-surface irrigation system. The Netafim team was led by its Managing Director in charge of sub-saharan Africa, Mr CLN Rao, and Commercial Manager in the Nigerian Office, Mr Sean Movsowitzt. In the NSDC team were the Acting Head of Technical Services Department, Mr Balarabe Ladan, and Executive Assistant to the ES, Mrs Lade Offurum.
